You are already perfectly equipped to discover your true nature, a reality beyond the mind’s limitations that is closer than your own breath.

Nondual Understanding focuses on the nondual understanding from a Western perspective. The material is written for intuitive thinkers and intuitive feelers (see What’s Your Cognitive Function? below) who are often naturally oriented toward philosophical and spiritual inquiries. Here we explore the unitive understanding of consciousness and the reality behind the term “God.”

The Introduction provides excerpts of the nondual understanding. Reading through the introduction will help provide context for the rest of the material.

The primary articles are on the Main Pages.

The Topical Guide provides an alphabetized list of topics covered with links to the articles.

Finally, the three pages of Q & A offer comments on topics like the similarities and differences between the nondual understanding of Jesus and traditional views of Christianity; the question of salvation; the nature of our sin nature; the nature of our true nature; witnessing presence; the deeper purpose of life; the nature of reality; the hard problem of consciousness; near-death experiences; the problem of evil; angelic beings; unfavorable influences and the paranormal; protection; the innate freedom and happiness at the heart of experience, and more.

_____

The author of Nondual Understanding was raised in the Christian fundamentalist tradition. During that time he struggled with questions of faith. For many years church doctrine clashed with intuitions about deeper meanings, but this internal conflict was well-contained behind a dam of faith, until, after a particular life event, that dam burst. Subsequent years of spiritual uncertainty and an ongoing search for truth eventually led to an agnostic state of mind. Then, when the author was most ready, the nondual understanding at the heart of Christianity appeared, providing the most satisfying answers to those philosophical and the ever-pressing spiritual questions.

The nondual understanding was a very welcome discovery in that it spoke to the heart and the mind. It evoked the sense of peace and clarity while initiating a feeling of celebration, as thinking, sensing, perceiving were now imbued with unexpected and significant meaning.

In relation to consensus Christianity, the nondual understanding is higher up the mountain of truth, so to speak, but the view is wide open, the air is clear, and the perspective is full of sunlight.

And while Christian nonduality may sound like an oxymoron, like saying, particular everything, it simply means the nondual understanding from a Christian perspective.

What’s Your Cognitive Function?

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality test based on the influential theory of psychological types proposed by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung in 1921 that categorizes people into one of 16 types. MBTI is a useful tool for understanding how we and others (a) interact with the world, (b) process information, and (c) adapt to new information.

MBTI is often misunderstood and misapplied, but time spent learning how cognitive functions work and interrelate will be rewarded, particularly with regard to why the nondual understanding is often more accessible to intuitive types than sensing types.

To learn more about MBTI, an introductory reading recommendation is Personality Hacker by Antonia Dodge and Joel Mark Witt.
